Leather and Alcantara: How to Care for Each
Many newer cars mix leather with Alcantara, a soft suede-like material often used on steering wheels, seat inserts and headliners. They look good together, but they are cared for differently.
Leather
Leather benefits from a gentle clean followed by conditioning, which keeps it supple and helps it resist cracking. Avoid harsh cleaners and heavy, greasy dressings that leave a slick finish.
Alcantara
Alcantara has a fine, napped surface that mats down with oils from skin and dirt. It needs a soft touch and products made for it, and it should never be scrubbed hard or soaked.
Why it matters
Using the wrong product on either material can leave it stiff, shiny or stained. That is why our packages include both leather conditioning and Alcantara conditioning.
